This recall is being issued by: Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC)

Recalled on: August 17, 2011

Description: Phil&teds USA is recalling 54,000 "Metoo" clip-on table top chairs which were the subject of a May safety alert issued by the CPSC. These chairs clip on to tabletops using metal vice clamps and the child is then placed in the seat of the hanging chair. Falls and serious head injury from impact can occur in the following ways:

        (1) missing or worn clamps that secure the chair to table tops can detach;
        (2) the chair can detach if child pushes against another object or moves around and
        (3) if the product is used as shown on packaging and in marketing materials. Using the product in such ways can increase the likelihood of injury.    However, the instructions do not warn of these hazards.

Pinching, laceration and amputation hazards can also occur if the child's fingers get caught between the horizontal metal bar at the front of the chair and the clamp.
The clip-on chairs affected by this warning do not have plastic spacers between the table clamps and the front horizontal metal bar; the others are still under investigation.

Have this product?:  The CPSC is recommending that you immediately stop using this product and contact phil&teds USA at 855-652-9019 to receive a free repair kit with user instructions or order your repair kit online here. The repair kit consists of rubber boots to place on the upper clamp grips of the chair. Consumers who previously received a repair kit with only rubber boots should also stop using the chair and contact the company for the new repair kit.
